Travis Powers: Powers Education Consulting

I work with colleges, universities, school districts, and athletic programs to strengthen organizational performance through leadership development, systems design, and strategic improvement. My work sits at the intersection of education leadership, athletics administration, and institutional operations, with a focus on building environments where students and staff can thrive.

Today, I also partner with higher education institutions on technology initiatives through my role with Howard Technology Solutions, supporting campuses as they modernize infrastructure, improve instructional environments, and enhance the overall student and faculty experience through scalable technology solutions.

Meet Travis Powers, M.Ed.

I've spent the last decade inside schools — as a teacher, assistant principal, and athletic director — building programs and leading people, not just managing paperwork.

My background:

M.S. in Educational Administration, Grand Canyon University

B.A. in Secondary Education & History, Chestnut Hill College

Certified School Administrator in New York and New Jersey

Certified Social Studies Teacher

As Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Health for a 21-school charter network across New Jersey and the Bronx, I designed and ran interscholastic athletics for 5 middle schools, 4 high schools, and youth programs — building the budget, the staffing structure, the handbooks, and the culture from scratch. I later led athletics for a public district with 27 varsity teams across three schools.

Before that, as an Assistant Principal and Social Studies Teacher, I worked directly with students, staff, and families to build the kind of school culture that makes athletic programs actually work — because a great athletic department can't survive inside a school that isn't running well.

On the field:

I've coached varsity soccer and basketball for over a decade, including guiding a brand-new soccer program to its first-ever NJSIAA State Tournament appearance, earning 2022 NIC Conference Coach of the Year, and rebuilding a winless basketball program into a state playoff team. I still love to coach and coach High School Soccer and Basketball!

I understand both sides of the table — the superintendent's office and the sideline — which is exactly why schools bring me in.

Beyond athletics:

While athletic departments are where I start with most schools — it's the area with the clearest, fastest wins — my background covers the full picture of running a school: instructional leadership, curriculum development, student discipline systems, staff evaluation, and operations. If your school needs help beyond athletics, that's very much on the table too.
